No 2633 Pair of late Ming Chinese porcelain dishes for Japanese market
A pair of beautiful, small Chinese porcelain dishes dating from late Ming - Tianqi or Chonzhen periods. Decorated in old underglaze blue ( ko-sometsuke), featuring a leaping carp surrounded by water plants. Made in China for the Japanese market at a time when the Japan was unable to make such pieces. The base has a burnt edge, typical of the period.
Condition: In good condition for age although both have fritting to edges. One has a small hairline and the other has hairlines in two corners.
