No 2289 Chinese scholar's porcelain water dropper - Shou Lao
Chinese scholar’s porcelain water dropper – Qianlong period 1736 - 95, 18th century. The water dropper is in the form of Shou Lao seated on a deer. Shou Lao is the Chinese deity of longevity. His oversized forehead represents wisdom and his long beard demonstrates a long life.
From a private English collection purchased in UK between 1950 and 1990.
