Exceptionally finely decorated Japanese vase, circa 1880. Beautifully executed in the best vivid underglaze cobalt blue. A scene of happiness and contentment is portrayed by a bird surrounded by luscious pomegranate fruits. It has a foliating rim, sadly damaged in the past but now with 2 old kintsugi repairs. It has been signed on the base.
Condition: two repairs to rim and some glaze crackles.
