N0 2655 Underglaze blue porcelain vase - Wanli period
Chinese blue and white Kraak porcelain vase. Late Ming, Wanli period (1573 - 1620). Particularly fine underglaze blue colouring with good white background. Moulded body with 6 segments, separated by an indented bamboo shoot decoration. Two segments show prancing Kylin on waves and surrounded by flames. Four sections decorated with peaches, rocks and flora. Buddhistic clouds surround the neck. Condition: vase has been reduced at the rim with short fine hairlines to the rim and some glaze wear in places.
