No. 2707 Chinese porcelain 'clobbered' bottle vase - circa 1700
No. 2707 Chinese porcelain 'clobbered' bottle vase - circa 1700
Chinese porcelain bottle vase dating to the early 18th Century - circa 1700. Underglaze blue decoration applied in China and bright overglaze enamels added later in UK or Holland, showing that this would have been a quality item. The neck shows zoomorphic conjoined dragons and plantain leaves, while the central body has flowers within cartouches.
Condition: the neck has been cut down and the base shows extra plaster marks - possibly as a result of the vase having been fitted with a metal base and top at the same time as the ‘clobbering’ took place. No other damage.
Size: height 18cm
