No 2298 Large unusual Japanese vase – circa 1850
Unusual Japanese porcelain vase - blue and white interior, 'cloisonné' type exterior depicting shishi dogs, flowers, clouds, phoenix and birds. This type of decoration was first shown by the Japanese at the Great Exhibition of 1851. The shape, deep base and decoration show the vase is likely to date between 1850 - 80.
Condition: there are two repaired rim chips and some general rubbing, commensurate with age.
Size: height 39 cm, diameter of top opening 15 cm
